bubbah rubbah
how many of you guys are making these? I just got one of Dels molds-(thanks del!) Im finding them tricky to make. the baits like to get a bubble on the last 2 inches below the spout... my guess is its a contraction issue. I guess i should have started with a smalller mold, but small baits are for sissies
jmik26
My guess is the 10" would be easier then the smaller ones. One thing that you have to pay attention to is, when the plastic starts to suck down into the cavity. Make sure to top it off before that happens. For startes, fill the mold until its level with the top of the mold. As you pour the next stick keep an eye on the cavities filled, once they start to sink, add a little to keep it level. Once they set up, cut the tops off and reheat them for the other sticks.
SwampBaits
You could also pour half the bait, wait a few seconds, and fill the rest of the mold.

bubbah rubbah
I was topping it off, but i think i was topping it off too late and sealing in the bubble. These are going to be used for striped bass fishing up in new england and will be rigged onto a jig head. Im trying to emulate an american eel which is one of striped bass' favorite foods. bubbah rubbah
hey saint, ive been pouring for a while, i just havnet posted on this site much and havent used aluminum 2 piece molds before.. i usually use RTV for open faced molds. Your right though, you cant beat the feeling of accomplishment, be it solving a problem or catching on your own baits..
