psilvers
I am thinking of putting some VMC hooks on some of my lures. What has been your experience with VMC hook quality? Is it as good as Gamakatsu or Mustad? Thanks, Pete
rsinyard
I use the VMC hooks on my spinnerbaits and I have never had any problems with them.
JOdowd
I have a lot of VMC hooks they are a good quality hook, but I like my Gamakatsu hooks bertter. I think it is a confidence thing I never loose fish on them.
Black Dog
I use VMCs standard on my salmon spinners (30-40lb fall chinooks not uncommon) with Owners avail as upgrades. I think either are great, VMCs sharpened with a file will hold up real good and you can re-sharpen them. While in my experience Gami's and Owners cant really be sharpened because the steel is so hard. VMCs are probably 1/3 the cost of either also......but I still think they are a quality hook. Better than Eagle Claw or Mustad
psilvers
Thanks for the input. I think I will try some of the VMC's when I can't get a Gamakatsu to fit my mold. BTW, a buddy of mine used to jokingly call the Gamakatsu "C'mon I gotcha" hooks! Pete
Musky_Stalker
VMC make good hooks, but Owners are the best! Sharpest and hold better than anything out there.
