Riverrat
Does any one know where I can get a football jig mold that uses the flat eye hooks? I have a Do-It but it takes the regular 90 degree hooks. Has any one modified this mold for this reason? Do you think it would work?
jigmaster
it works be careful with the dremel...do not cut too deep, or the hook will not be centered in the casting JM www.daimonlures.com
jpbullet
Just wondering, why do you prefer the flat eye hooks versus the 90 degree? I havent experimented much with the football heads yet.
microtek60
I modified mine to take those hooks and it works great. Use a small rotory bit and cut in a little at a time and intall the hooks to see if it will close. It took me about 30 min to do all the holes. Riverrat
What dia wire hooks are ya using? Did you have to cut where the hook shank sits in the mold at all? I would allso be interested in some hair jigs for smallies. Tell us some info price, colors, sizes. I am going to attempt the mold surgery this weekend, cross your fingers for me. Riverrat
To be honest I think the closer to the lead the hook eye is the better hook up ya have. It's alot to to with a confidence thing. A buddy of mine turned me on to that style with flipping jigs and I just like them better. If any one could ad to the advatages or disadvatges feel free. mikel7@mac.com
i always thought the advantage was having the knot not sliding around the eye thus quicker knot wear. and i know from experiance that fire line will catch on the eye where it meets the shank and break or just come out altogether
