NiceBass
I have a LEE production pot so I can't fit a aluminum 2-piece mold that pours into the top under my pot, so I had the idea of making 2-piece mold that you lay flat with holes on the top piece. Anybody ever tried this?
dampeoples
It would be easier to make a new mount for the pot
NiceBass
Alright, can somebody please post some kind of "tutorial" or pictures to show me how to raise the pot or make a new mount. THANKS!
lure_learning
I believe all you do is unscrew the bottom piece and flip it around so it's out of the way. Now it could be lifted by mounting it on something.
NiceBass
Yea, I took apart the bottom mount, but what do you put in between them to space them out? Just a piece of wood or something? THANKS
lure_learning
I'm hoping someone who has actually done this could chime in. My impression is you don't put anything between them you just reverse the bottom plate so it's out of the way. Here is a crude side view: | ..| |__| .....|__ .....|__| The block of wood is secured to a bench and the bottom plate secured to it. Again I've never done this but seems like it would work just fine. hawghunterbaits
Hi. This is what I have done with some of my pots. I cut about 2 to 3 inches off the base, then drilled a small hole in the base and mounted them at the edge of my bench. This puts the pouring tip out from the bench about 2 inches or so, I have no problem pouring into my two piece molds this way. I also mounted a old baking pan at the bottom of bench and under pots to catch all overflo . This works very well for me.
bubbah rubbah
I keep my presto pot on a tabletop drill press. If i use tall molds, i crank up the table.. low molds, the table gets cranked down.. very simple, I dont use salt so i dont have a stirring device in there, but If i did i would make a few at different lengths and remember which ones work with each mold.
