Riverrat
I fish alot of spinner baits with White blades. The ones I have bought work but I have not been really happy with the finish, kinda dull. I have just tried painting my own with (Don't laugh) Rustoleum White appliance epoxy $2.97 at waly world, and the finish is unbeliveble. If any one has tryed this let me now. It is still curying but I think it will harden up nicely. I have tryed powder painting these also but if you do not get all the varnish off the blade the powder will give you a fish eye effect. Just a new thought.
EC Musky Dude
Are you painting over white blades or unfinished brass?
smalljaw
It will harden nicely but don't hit a rock, or log with the blades or it will chip. It does work but the blade is smooth and the paint has nothing to really adhere to.
mikel7@mac.com
I Striped The Paint Off Some Blades And Used Powder Paint And They Did Real Well.
Riverrat
Musky Dude Nickel coated blades from Barlows and I take the laquer off them with sand paper. It's been 2 days and they have hardened up nice. I think Smalljaw is right though about the rocks. We will see how they work. One of the reasons I did not use the powder paint on these is I want only one side white and the other is the original nickel finish. Always trying new combos
EC Musky Dude
Thanks riverrat, I'd like to tinker with powder painting but I'm thinking some of the bigger blades I use would be tough to dip unless I had lots of powder. Let us know how that paint holds up on the water.
heavycover
Maybe an epoxy coat on top of the spray paint will keep it on better in the rocks.
dampeoples
I wouldn't personally recommend an epoxy, as when it self-levels, it tends to pull away from edges, I'd recommend Dick Nite Lurecoat for that, or some other type of thin clear.
