livewell
Just started tinkering with my spinnerbaits. does anyone know of a chart with weight of bait vs size of blade. I like light baits and I may be trying to put too large of a blade on them and they tend to not run vertical. thanks.
dampeoples
Both Stamina and Jann's have such a chart on their site

bladesandbaits
Livewell, once upon a time there was site called tacklemaking.com. Some of the Senior members here had a past affiliation with this site. There was a page on that site that went into great detail about this very same subject. I had it saved and cannot find it. Maybe if Redg8r reads this post he can dig it up. I dont believe the site is active anymore although I have seen a link to that Blade Size page posted here a good while ago. BTW, where in Georgia are you? Kindest Regards, Blades

Dungeonhawk
i dont know about you guys, but i purposefully put on biggier or smaller blades in certain situations. sometimes ill put a number 5 colorado on an 1/8 oz spinner. you can tweak it to run right, but sometimes it makes a difference
livewell
Dungeon what tweaks do you use. That is basically what I was looking to do was use an oversize blade on a light spinner. Mike
Riverrat
Livewell, I make a 5/16 spinnerbait that I run a #6 or 7 willow on. I also Run a 1/2 oz with a #8 deep colo on. I have looked at some of these charts you have talked about and think the best thing is just make baits up and try them. My big willow leaf spinner is great for shallow water slow slow slow retrieve. I have had guys tell me I'm nuts running the size blades I do on my spinnerbaits. That's fine cause then they won't try it for fish for us. I tweak my baits my bending the arms to get the bait to run true. Also your retrieve depends on how it will run. I can't burn my big willow blade on that small head or it will role and do all kinds of weird stuff. But I only use that bait for shallow slow retrives. I think it's all about trying new blades and retrieves. You will learn more about how and why a spinnerbait works, what blades do what and when to use different blades by just getting your baits wet. Hope this helps a bit. Riverrat
