donkjc2
I have read about some people on the TU that have been taken advantage of by other TU members. People offering things for sale or trade and not living up to there word. I am a member of other web sites that offer a page for people to post feedback when they make a trade or sale with other members. I was just wundering what other people on the forum think about the idea. I have had made many trades with TU members in the past and would just like a way to let everyone else know that there are people you can trust on the site. What does everyone else think? dampeoples
I think it's a good idea, maybe if there can't be a trade forum, at least go back to the post that started the trade, if there is one, and let folks know how that goes. There's not always a thread though, we've traded, and I feel we were both happy, there just isn't a paper trail
donkjc2
Oh, I am happy with our trade as well. I would just like to have some place where I could tell people that you were honest and fullfilled your end of the deal. There are many people here that "I "would trade or do business with again, but for someone who has not traded with an indivudal it would be nice to be able to check up on someone. Just as a peace of mind sort of thing.
dampeoples
I know, just offering a suggestion if we never get a place to do that, a lot fo times once a trade is made, nobody ever comes back to that thread to reply!
redg8r
Thanks for the suggestion, it's definately something we'll monitor & keep in mind. Over the years, we really havnt had any problems other than the recent repeat offender. I'm proud to say, overall, we have the best member base on the planet. Thanks again. Vodkaman
I agree in principle, but would be afraid that someone could unjustly be criticised. Things sometimes go wrong when you are dealing with so many areas, such as credit card payments, paypal, the postal service AND a few computers. Any of these functions can go wrong causing a glitch in the service. A posted negative opinion could quite easily seriously damage a sellers reputation unjustly. Correcting the injustice with an 'everything is OK now', would probably not fix the damage completely, the bad rep' would tend to stick. I'm sure an acceptable solution can be found, but it has to be thought through, it's not just about the buyer. Excuse me for just thinking aloud. Lure--Prof
I've seen forums where people would list in their signature space, for example, "Successful transactions completed with Burbot Bob and Sal Shad-sugar". Dean
Vodkaman
Dean, I really like it. I believe that if you haven't got anything good to say, then don't say anything.
Lure--Prof
Well it would at least help, and might provide a mark to hit for those who do or are considering transactions on the site. We can let Jerry know pm if someone is acting badly and he can handle it as he sees fit from that point. At least, it is a low maintenace & forum friendly method; I don't really see a downside. Bad Idea, post below is right on the money I agree in principle, but would be afraid that someone could unjustly be criticised.Things sometimes go wrong when you are dealing with so many areas, such as credit card payments, paypal, the postal service AND a few computers. Any of these functions can go wrong causing a glitch in the service. A posted negative opinion could quite easily seriously damage a sellers reputation unjustly. I'm sure an acceptable solution can be found, but it has to be thought through, it's not just about the buyer. Excuse me for just thinking aloud. what you will have is a bunch of guys in one clique helping each other and a guy in another clique getting bashed for little or no reason, then on top of all that you have your typical know it all , I am the king(aka attention whores, self proclaimed experts etc.) getting his panties in a wad be cause. it wasn't just perfect or something rediculous. Ive been runnng forums since well before the internet using the old pc board stuff with amiga's and dial ups, I've seen what can happen. what it will usually do is shut a board down. unless you do it perfectly and I mean perfectly its not worth the problems that will arise. perfectly meaning: good quality pics of all sides ( if you don't have a camera tough you don't sell) a good detailed description of any defects no matter if you think they are defects or not the asking price the shipping price and when you ship it. the dates you shipped it witha copy of the tracking number. The buyer needs to enter the date it arrived the condition it was in pictures of all sides. if and only if these are all met then it would be a good idea, if they are not bad Idea. they all must be posted both sides sellers and the buyers. Ive seen good deals go bad on lots of forums and the silliest fights start. one is this example a guy was selling a gun, he took very good pictures of all angles and wrote a detailed description, he said it was used and about 90% it was over $1500. a few guys wanted it one guy got it. that guy went and reemed this guy months and still does today. the guy selling it bought it back from this dipwad and sold it to my buddy. my buddy got it and I saw it. the thing was better than the picture showed. heres what the problem with it was, the butt cap on the back of the rifle had a scraped rubber piece and the black screw had some silver showing from when he tightend it down. anyone who knows anything about guns will understand what I am talking about, when you unscrew a screw or tightend a screw on a buttcap, if you dont have the exact same screw driver and a proper one it will rub the side of the buttcap and even take the finish off the screw. BTW a little alcohol took the scrap mark right off the butt plate. what I am getting at is a forum is a very bad place to be having something like you mentioned , namely for the little cliques that hang around them. Thats one reason I think the rate your bait deal is just flat out wrong, along with a group that was wanted to be started to critique peoples work. Ive meet very few people in my life that are unbiased and I can tell you the internet is a very biased place. reason being is they are not face to face with someone. just my 2 cents Delw
