braveviper
Finally an experiment that might actually work.I got tired of ordering 3d eyes for crankbaits and found a way to make my own. Here it is.Take a plastic cap of any container that is flat underneath and stick a dozen or so 3d eyes on the underside of the cap.Take whatever rtv is leftover from making one of your worm or beaver molds and pour it in the cap. When the rtv is done curing you have a mold for eyes that looks like the dimples of a golf ball.Fill the dimples with clear resin. When the resin dries, pop out the eyes and paint a small pupil in the center of the flat side of the eye and there ya go. What do ya think?
redg8r
One thing to watch for is the paper the eyes are shipped on, many have a silicone coating for easy removal of the eyes. The RTV will stick to the paper unless a proper release agent is used, or simply remove the eyes from the paper first. Good tip & a great way to experiment with custom eyes. doomdart
Sounds good except you won't have the adhesive already on there. I guess superglue or Devcon won't fail you. Or if you recess drill the eyes you could just drop them in with a little Elmer's. You might be able to get just what you need by dripping a single drop of paint or coloring into the resin before it cures. braveviper, is this just your idea, or have you already done it?
