Motor Oil Sticks..

Recommended Posts

New to the forum...first post..

I just began pouring sticks a couple of days ago. No problems so far, but I am trying to pour some in a motor oil color. I have tried the recipes in the cookbook sticky, but they don't seem to work out.

Is is possible to pour a nice motor oil stick with salt added, or should I save my material? If possible, any suggestions considering I'm using salt? (About 1/4 cup per 1/2 cup of plastic)

This site has been of great help to me getting started pouring. Thanks to you all!

I recently took on this project. I made some nice motoroil stix. They were almost the same as Berkeley's motoroil. The only problem is that they changed colors after a week or so. They no longer have a chart. tint to them. Therefore, I think it can be done, but you'll have to find the right dyes to do it.

Out of curiosity, what formula did you use??? I used a combination of Del's motoroil and LC amber. I don't remember the ratio between the two off the top of my head (I have it written in my formula book at home). I do know that I used a lot of motoroil and very little amber (I think 15 drops of MO and 3 or 4 amber).

Also, I use salt and sugar flakes (from senkosam) to get the weight for my stix.

Thanks for the response guys.

BBC - I used a combination of Del's motoroil and light watermelon, with a drop of yellow. I don't remember the exact ratio but it was around 20 drops motor oil, and a couple drops of watermelon and 1 drop of yellow.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of ratio do you use for your salt/sugar glitter mixture? I'd really like to clear my sticks up a bit by taking out some salt.

GARVIN - I'll definately try it out. Thanks!
