I just have a small iron I dont know if i am getting it hot enough or what the problem is. I really dont know much about soldering. any help will be helpfull. dayooper Posted May 8, 2007 Report Share Posted May 8, 2007 Kyle, Definitely use flux. I use Oatley's Safe-Flo Silver, Lead Free solder. Just flux the part you want soldered and use a torch to heat it up. After a few seconds touch the part you want soldered with the solder and it should work well for you. Vodkaman Posted May 8, 2007 Report Share Posted May 8, 2007 I would be concerned about annealing the metal, destroying the strength of the hook. It might be worth doing a destructive test comparison between the soldered and un-soldered hooks. Alternately, you could just let that once in a lifetime large mouth test it for you!
