sidewinder
I put this new 3" swim bait in the pool to see how it swims, it looks awesome. Let me know what you think of it? I was going to put the 4" one to the test in a tournament last weekend but thanks to all the fires:flame: in Fla. it was canceled. P.S. please send rain. sidewinder
Angler310
Outstanding looking bait. I'm glad your test was a success. Mike
BassnRandy
Thats a great looking bait. Is the shiny part in front the weight or are my aging eyes bad?
Mattlures
That little bait is great looking. I am not sure about the hook though. You might not be able to stick many fish with the hooks pointing back up towards the body. You will only know after you fish it.
sidewinder
Thanks for the replies guys.As for the shinny part on the nose it is a glued on weight just under 3/16, with a line tube to the treble hook. When a fish is hooked the bait slides up the line and doesn"t tear up as fast. The pictures view doesn't let you see just how far the hook sticks out on the sides.Plus by pointing upwards it bounces over structure better and sits on the bottom upright. I worked those little details out on the 4" swim bait that I have caught several nice fish on. Still don't know what to do about all those fish that follow the bait back to the boat. sidewinder
BassnRandy
either keep a follow up bait to throw thats a little different or try killing the retreive the minute you see the follower. Following bass are telling you something. You have there interest but something is missing. This is a good set of rules for following fish. 1-Change speed or cadense. 2-Change size (smaller is not always the way to go) 3-If those don't work change your color Alot of the tourny anglers I know change color first. I have better luck following the order I listed.
Metal Head
Nice little swimbait, looks just like a Swimbabe! Glad to hear good action in her too! How did you make the body?
sidewinder
Thanks for the compliment Metal-Head. The body was carved out of balsa wood but the tail was off a buzz worm. The mold is a 2 piece pop, once the mold dried I did some more carving and added a removable hook slot. I have molds of most swim baits, Misson Fish, Little-E, and Bass-Trix to pour for my friends that don"t want to pay 10 to 20$ for a one or two fish bait. The exception is the Matt-Lures baits thats like going to the Taxidermist, a quality paint job. sidewinder
Tubeman
Great looking bait Sidewinder. You mentioned an interesting point about Mattlures and the craftsmanship that goes into his baits. If anyone was to learn anything about selling your own baits, look at Matts...very unique and hard to copy (because of the time and effort required). His talent as an artist as well as the molds he's designed is what sets his baits apart fron the others.
Mattlures
You guys are too kind. Sidewinder, I realy like that little bait. It looks clean. The only reason I mentioned the hooks is because, generaly the bottom type baits have the hooks on top and the slow sinking or floating have them on the bottom. I wonder if you could reverse the tube insert to come out of the top. Either way That is a very nice little bait. Also there are many others out there that are making great baits, Most would be hard to copy without injecting, but The Chinese can copy just about anything. I think The reason I dont get knocked off very much is because its just not worth the trouble.
