Richard Prager
I need to make up some Zoom's Red Bug for my tournament on Sunday. I found this recipe in the color cookbook. I don't have indigo. What would be the best substitution or does anyone have any of their own recipes. Thanks a bunch. I am not using salt. Richard 4 oz. SS plastisol add salt to taste 6 drops indigo 2 drops red 1 drop black 3/4 tsp .025 emerald green flake
wannabefishing
M-F lists Indigo as Black grape... if you have LC's black grape, give it a try only add a touch or 2 of some blue... i have the M-F indigo and it's quite a bit bluer then LC's, it's a really deep purple with a blue hue to it... if you don't have LC's black grape, try a purple and blue combo (more blue than purple) should atleast get you on your way... Joe S.
Not sure if it's to late but I pretty much have an exact recipe, atleast it sure looks like it comparing the both, 1/4 cup of plastic 2 drops LC strawberry 3 drops LC pumpkin seed 1/8tsp of .15 green flake 1/4tsp .35 green flake
Richard Prager
Thanks everyone for your replies. I ended up using 6 drops LC Strawberry and 1 drop LC Black Grape to 4 oz's plastic with medium and small Kelly Green flake from Senko Sam. It is dead on to Zoom's Red Bug. If anyone is having problem with their green flake turning blue, try Frank's flake. It can take numerous reheats without curling or turning blue. saint308
Are you putting any salt in that formula? Thanks. Saint.

GB GONE
Do the baits look the same when you hold them up to the light? On the table, a lot of my colors look close but then I hold them up and the bait is much different. Just curious as my redbug has an orangish tinge to it when held to the light. My redbug uses some tomato and amber brown for that orangish tinge. Just a thought.... Jim
Richard Prager
Hey Jim! I really suck at matching up color. My friend Dale came by. He's a contracter and is always matching paint. He looked at what I had and hit it on the nose the first try. We took it out in the natural sunlight and also water tested both baits. Dead on with Zoom's Red Bug! I found that too much flake will make it appear a bit brown or orangish.
Delw
zooms redbug is built with bleeding colors, they have a special way of doing it the bait looks nothing like redbug for the first 12 hours after 24-36 hours it starts to change. you can get it really close by using non-bleeding colors like some of the recipes already givin. one of my customers who works for zoom over nighted me one and it was just starting to change, it looked green brown purple kinda like a motor oil with purple in it, then when it finally changed it looked just like the org redbug. Richard Prager
I just tried Bear's Candy Apple Red. It's Redbug in a bottle if anybody has been struggling with that recipe. Just add flake. I love it! I use to cringe when people ordered that color.
