willie525
Does anyone else here think that berkley gulp is over rated. Ive caught some fish but not great quantities like they said. And i dont think anything can compare to live bait. Also its very expensive, powerbait is pretty good but i just think its over rated. dayooper
I used the Berkly Gulp for the first time last week. I was fishing with a crawler harnesses with a 4" Smelt Gulp. My buddy was using the same color harness with live bait (minnow). We were trolling in the same boat and I easliy out fished him 5 to 1. Then he swithched to the Gulp and started catching just as many. I don't want to start believing in that after one trip, but it did work for me. Or maybe it was just the quality of my harnesses:wink: !! Benjamin

One Sock
my brother swears by it and says the guys on the NJ shore fishing in the salt buy that stuff by the truckload. I used it when it first came out and wasn't impressed. i usally see it sitting on clearance racks ( at least the freshwater stuff)
Nutty_gnome
I just bought my first bag of 7.5 inch powerworms yesterday. Went through half the bag and cought about 8 fish in 3 hours, which is good for me. I'd say they work pretty well. They don't hold up over time as well as the Zoom u-tale or c-tale worms though. But they do have scent in them, Zoom does not. They are more expensive, but if they work, I don't see a problem. N_G
willie525
i like powerbait and zoom. yes powerbait has scent, but they use the same scent for everything. but the fish can become used to the scent whereas zoom you can ad your own scent. and were talking about gulp
Nutty_gnome
I think that every bass in the lake I fish has seen at least one powerbait this season. That said, they still work so I dont think its overrated. I have no expereince with Gulp. I would surmise that it too would work but would be less durable than the powerbait at even more expense. Next time I see some gulp I'll give it a try. What you should really be interested is in the new Gulp! Alive! product. That looks like the bees knees if you like Gulp and should lower the expense as well (over time). http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpurefishingpreview08.html (Half way down the page). I'd buy the small canister if I saw it and the colors looked useful. - N_G

smirkplug
I wish i thought gulp was overated, ive only seen the saltwater version and it gets bit without even swimming the lure. In California its not legal to use on fly or lure waters only, you can use scent like Smelly gelly on a regular plastic but can't use a plastic that comes with scent on it. I wish more game wardens would enforce that law, our trophy brown trout streams in the eastern sierra are taking a beating from still fishermen using gulp sandworms. Leboeuf
As the real estate people say, location, location, ................ I don't give a rats ass what bait or lure your tossing, if you not throwing where the fish are, your not going to get bit. Stop looking for a miracle bait or lure, and start studying how to locate the species of fish your after.
hoosier
i think of it this way if i cant make it and get a fish on it then i need to stop fishing.... i dont need gulp to help me ....i think gulp is for little girls that need to learn how to fish
u63405
i bought some gulp worms before and i guess they catch fish. the only thing i couldn't git over was that darn smell!!! it gits on everything in your tackle box!

Lure--Prof
i think of it this way if i cant make it and get a fish on it then i need to stop fishing.... i dont need gulp to help me ....i think gulp is for little girls that need to learn how to fish the top 10 reasons hoosier would make this statement 10. He really hates the odor of Gulp. 9. He thinks the whole concept of scents for lures is ludicrous. 8. The faces of Ike, Skeet, Jay Yelas and Larry Nixon attached to bass bodies makes him have scary dreams. 7. Really really hates those "Fish Crave it!" commercials. 6. Really hates Ike. 5. Has never been out-fished anytime anywhere ever. 4. Has never been outfished ever since he needed to learn how to fish 3. Believes that any luremaker who doesn't fish his own lures exclusively is not a real luremaker. 2. His daughter consistently outfishing him with Gulp has caused a rift in the family going all the way back to Great-Grand Dad Hoosier Luremaker. And the number one reason Hoosier would make the statement,"...gulp is for little girls that need to learn how to fish", is... 1. He tried to disguise himself by donning a dress in a tournament in order to fish Gulp, because he was getting his butt kicked thoroughly...and was recognized by Boyd Duckett (a really really good Gulp fisherman) who exposed Hoosier's costume switch on the lake that morning at the weigh-in in front of huge crowd!
