sb220
Unfortunately hooked her right in the tongue and from what I am told severed an artery. I never knew a tongue hook was a death sentence for a bass. This one turned minutes after putting her in the livewell and no amount of Rejuvenade or nursing would help. I honestly wish she wouldnt have bit at all. Buddy of mine is a taxidermist though so guess Im gonna go that route with her.
dampeoples
Hell, just eat it, that way you won't have to look at it and think how you killed it all the time
saint308
Nice fish. How much did she weigh? Saint.
One Sock
I have hooked so many bass through and in the tongue, I don't think it's a definite death sentence, only a few seemed to go belly up on me, either way nice fish, was that in a tourny? If so that sucks.. dead fish penalty? no weight? Oh i have also hooked a few bass right in the mouth, no blood or anything and had them belly up on me...go figure
sb220
weighed 6 1/2 which are hard to come by on the lake I fish. Plenty of 4s and even 5s...6+ are pretty uncommon and 7+ are just plain rare, so yeah I wasnt happy about it. Tourney I was in only penalizes 8oz against your total weight. It still won the Big fish pot and busted the ramp shop jar pot. But my friend is just getting started in taxidermy and trying to generate buisness so Ill help him out a bit with a job. jigmeister
Congrats on your catch!!! With a tongue hooked bass you are better off to leave the hook in and cut the hook down so the fish can still feed and let the hook dissolve .
sb220
Yeah a fella said something to that fact at the docks. Guess the most damage to an artery comes from removing the hook eh? lesson learned
