Can anyone fill me in on the salt...why, how, when, how much? I know when I buy some worms they are salty on the outside. I fish salt water here in san diego. Also, I just made my first mold..pop. Willy As far as salt is concerned, you only need to add salt if you want your baits to sink, like the Yamamoto Senko. Otherwise, don't add salt. Wait until you smell the house up with the stuff. The big one - not spending "quality time together" like watching TV is quality. Willy Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Share Posted July 10, 2007 Yeah, they're so needy. I'm lucky to have a cool wife she's pretty supportive, thus far, but I haven't melted any rubber yet! I tried to make a 2 part, 2 grub mold tonight, but I couldn't get the tails to flatten out, so they look really wavy. And I still cant get the two halves to seperate. Have her trim oil and package all my baits. Guys ever figure out how to make the wives do the same? Let me know in case I EVER get married..hhahahahah and when is the best time to add salt? rockylinx Posted July 10, 2007 Report Share Posted July 10, 2007 Im no master, but I find Frankensteining the subject to me molded works best for me . What I would do is cut the tail off and go find some thin balsa wood at an arts & crafts store and cut the tail to size ,seal it with spray paint and now you have a flat tail. Most of the time you have to muscle the molds open. I haven't broke any just chipped at the sides. Use a butter knife I prefer to be married, If you find a good one you want to keep her. I guess its like your first 5 lbs bass you don't want to throw it back, and you don't want to kill it or it kill you through slow death of cuddling and quality time. Willy Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Share Posted July 11, 2007 Pete, Great idea to cut off the tail and make my own. I tried that and it worked well. Still waiting on the rubber, but you're right, I just had to split my mold like a man. I thought it might crack, but not al all. They seperated fine, and exposed a really poor top half. The bottom half was great, but the top was really pitted and funky. I think i got vaseline on the grubs in the mold and it showed up on the top half pour of the pop.
