folks that use rtv please help(pics)

Recommended Posts

one of my good friends has requested me to make some of these for him. they have been out of production for many years but up here in new york they still work! i have never used rtv nor do i want to try it. my request is does anyone think they can tackle making some rtv molds for me? cash paid of course, or trade for other molds. i assume it has to be made like the LC tube mold which is fine but would need 3 molds. any comments or info will help and be appriciative. and if you think you can make this mold for me please pm me. note this is the last one he has and they are out of production!!

TIA

They are not out of production, I saw those the other day in a Brooklyn sex shop.It was a little bigger than the one your holding though.

That's just wrong! lol

I'm not to sure how you would mold that bait and keep it full round. It would probably be hard to pull out of a mold if made like the LC Tube and Senko molds.

Thinking that it would be tough to make a one piece mold out of that lure with RTV, that idea poped into my head.

Figure out the diameter of the bait and length. Lets say its 1/2" diamter by 5" long. Make a wooden pan that is 1 9/16" X 5" X 1/4" and set aside. Make a board that is the same size and put wooden dowels on it in the same configuration as bait.

Now fill the pan you made with RTV and press the board into it. When its dry pull the board out and you will have a flat piece with a bunch of holes in it. Take that flat piece and roll it up and put some copper wire around it to hold, sit it up straight, hold it to a flat surface and pour your bait.

Just a rough idea, might work...

This one also just poped into my head. Take a 1/4" piece of PVC and drill some holes in it with a drill press. After the desired amount of holes are in it cut it in half with a band saw. Now you have two pieces with a bunch of holes. Put them together set upright on a flat surface and tape together, then pour the bait. The little legs will only be the thickness of the PVC but it may be close to what you want.

Did I confuse you yet???

I think Bass Pro still carries them. That's what Joe and Garrick at DoubleZZ used for their molds. Joe said it took a while to get them right. If you can't get the mold right, Joe's baits are A+ but I don't think he does custom colors.

VIPER, you're not right:lol:

Here's the grub but I didn't find the fry on their site

the mold can be made however it wont pour unless every single tenticle is vented all the way around. that means a 1/32 or smaller hole at the tip of every tenticle.

you will probally have your best luck with RTV because RVT holds the heat better than alum and plastic flows better in it. you could use some piano wire for the vent holes but with RVT because it shrinks I would go with 1/16 size.

now if you could find someone to inject it that would be the way to go.
