Hearing about that senko mold sounds like your thinking is a step above the rest, I like it. Design yourself a Paca Craw type bait you could probably make a small fortune.... millsryno Posted July 17, 2007 Report Share Posted July 17, 2007 I've looked into doing a 100 cavity cube before and was told that the baits in the middle take too long to set up due to all the heat from the other cavities. I was told that it would take longer doing it this way then just using more molds....I am interested to here how it works out for you. If you're mixing up say, 8 oz. of plastic, and you know it's good for x amount of baits, then time isn't really a problem, as they may cool before you could mix and heat another batch. Delw Posted July 17, 2007 Report Share Posted July 17, 2007 Like Ryan said its not worth it for a hand pour guy, and its expensive, it doesnt really save you any money. to make it worth your while you need to have 6-10 cubes(do to cooling) and you need to inject them. the cooling off takes a very long time, I built 2 for a guy in upper Ca 3 years ago, he ended up buying extra sides so he could use them with only one middle section. basically have 14 cavities 7 per row. He has all the pieces still and the last time I talked to him he was thinking fo water cooling the mold with some runners to get the plastic cool, but it just wasnt worth it. we used drill rod to align them. Its very time consuming to put them all together and the molds get extreamly hot, they need to clamped with clamps ( quick clamps). then to top it all off you have alot of weight and when full your probally talking 50-100 lbs per block. plus when its heavy and that many piece's they get dropped alot, this will ding the sides and you have to sand them. MACHINIST Posted July 17, 2007 Report Share Posted July 17, 2007 Hi guys I am the guy that made the molds.I made them from dimensions out of my head.NYFISHERMAN is going to come and pour some plastic in my molds sometime this week and I will let you know the results of that I or he will post some pics.I will be offering any mold that you want withing a few weeks,I just want to get the first ones ironed out before I make a bunch of molds that I will have to rework because of something that I left out.So let me know what I can do for you and I will give you a price and availability.Everything is done solid models and the repeatability of my machines are within a millionth of an inch,so you will get a quality part I GUARANTEE IT.The first few that I make for customers will be sort of a tester to make sure everyone is happy after that I will go into production. Do you want models of the mould with cavity, location spigots and sprue etc or just the model of the lure, or both. I can put together a model in the next week or two for testing.
