saint308
For my black toads I use 20 drops LC jet black to 4 oz. of plastic and they come out completely opaque. Even the thin part of the legs are opaque. You can also add some salt to make it more opaque, but it will change the action on the legs. I hope this helps. Saint. bigyen
Thanks for the fast relpies, No I haven't been adding salt. I find that with straight plastic my baits still come out somewhat hard so I have kept away from adding salt. Next time I pore I'll add some salt and softner, any sugjestions on the ratios of salt/plastic/softner? This site is awsome! Thanks!
MDC
Adding black flake will also keep some light from passing through But like Saint said I can get mine opaque with colorant I use 20 drops of M-F black per 4oz
bassnfool
If you add salt to your trailers they'll lay on the bottom, not float up like they should, so I wouldn't recommend using salt on trailers. I use 1/2 teaspoon of Del's black to a cup of plastic.
jmik26
If your using Dels color give LC a try. 1 cup of plastic and 40 drops of Jet Black will get you there. Before a battle starts im not knocking anybodies colorants, just saying some are better for certain things than others, and that works both ways. clemmy
While I don't have MF's black, my understanding is that it is opaque. LC's to me is transparent. I don't really make opaque black baits, so I've never gotten MF black. But LC's is indespensible to me not as a color base but rather as a darkener to produce a deeper shade of a base color...
