Markell
My bass jigs are turning out better than I had expected. But I am having a problem with the weed guards. I powder paint the heads and do not pour with the guard in place. Below is a list of problems that I would like to be able to solve: 1) Type of glue to use? I have had my best results from using crazy glue but the stuff dries white. 2) Getting the strength consistent. Some weed guards are strong and do not pop out while fanning out the weed guard while some seem to be very week. 3) What should I use to cut the week guard after it is in place? I want a nice looking even cut but this is also a hit or miss. Any tips or procedures would be very much appreciated. Thanks,
Celticav
Zap a gap dries clear, so does Devcon. I use serrated scissors to cut mine, JIM
Gr8flyz
I'll second the Devcon & serrated scissors!
Markell
Thanks guys, The serrated scissors work great. I could not find the Zap a Gap or the devcon in the stores today but I will place an order online tonight and give it a shot. I have wanted to stay away from the two part solutions but it seems that you can't read a post without devcon being part of the answer. Thanks again! Markell
A few things I have learned. The serrated scisors work fine but I have found that a pair of end nipper pliers gives me more consistency. My cuts are perfectly even every time. My biggest problem with the weed guard was from the hole for the weed guard getting smaller due to the powder paint. I make the hole a little larger before painting and now I get the weed guard all the way in. Zap a Gap and Devcon are both great for holding it in place. Thanks for your help!
