cavu
Does anyone have any experience with the Herter's molds? Seems to be a lot of them on Ebay, but I am not sure of the quality. I normally only buy Do-It or Hilts. Palmer's molds, at least the ones I have tried to use, are crap.
Gr8flyz
I've got a few of the Herter's molds & they are not as good as the Do It or Hilts molds. They don't close as well, and the cavities are not well formed. The ones I have are OK since I only use them for very limited production, but they do require a lot of extra work removing the flash from the heads. They look like the Do It molds, but smaller. My guess is that Do It used the same basic design, and just made it larger & better.
Big Splash
Herters molds are cast, like the palmers. Do-it and hilts are machined, producing a better finished product.
