Willy
I have a bottle of irridescent pearl liquid colorant and I am thinking of switching to hi-lite powder...A few questions on the subject to those in the know... 1. It takes a lot of my pearl to make a nice pealry look. like 40 drops for 2oz plastic. 2. Does hi-lite have the same effect? the pearly/shiny look? 3. Why does hi-lite come in colors? 4. Why does hi-lite come only 5 colors, and can they be used with other color plastic without dramatically changing the plastic color? 5. I'm looking for a shimmery silver color on my bait, anyone know what color/highlite combo one would use for that look? Thanks all, Willy
braveviper
I recently had my first pour with pearl powder from LC.I just added a tea spoon to 3 oz of uncolored plastic and made some nice pearly sluggos.I like the powder so far but I can see it getting pricey. nova
Braveviper; if you add one drop of white you can use a lot less highlite. www.novalures.com

bssmstr
Lurecraft offers 7 hilites-gold, green, blue, violet, orange, silver, and -"NEW" - turquoise. Some perch have a turquoise edge on their scales. Do a search and you will come up with several threads on hilites and pearls. Lots of useful info. I have a 2 page Word file that I have copied off this site for hilites. Check the color recipes - a lot of them use hilites.
bojon
I use a metalic blue powder added to clear that has fine copper glitter. The very small amount of blue turns the clear to a pinkish blue in the outdoor lite.Indoors it really looks clear. One of my favorite colors. My girl friend named it CORAL PINK.This might give you a idea at what it looks like to her. For a slight silvery cast to a tube I use a very small amount, repeat a very SMALL amount,of liguid silver dye that is shaken very well IMPORTANT.Indoors it doesn't look much different than clear, but out doors and in the water it looks great.I use this to imitate shad and sometimes I dip a back color of tan,or black.I use no glitter on this one. One Sock
MF has some nice hi-lite powders, I use the blue neon and green/yellow a lot, some suggest a matchstick size of this or a pin head of that, when using hi lites you should have exact measurements as sometimes a little more is a little more too much, especially when I am making a motoroil or something where the hi lite needs to change the color drastically
BassnRandy
I have been using the M-F powders also. Awsome stuff! I used a sparing amount of the brown neon in my roadkill instead of the usual hilite and got a great but very similar roadkill color. You just have to play around till you hit something you like. And with most powders less is more so a little goes along way.
