wannabefishing
long story longer... i sold a mold on ebay, 2 weeks ago, received payment and shipped 2 days later VIA USPS priority (w/tracking and ins). So it still hasn't been delivered, the buyer has been very patient so far, eventho the tracking # doesn't work- they put it in the bulk pile instead of wherever it's supposed go and the bulk scanners don't show the priority tracking on the website... i scanned the receipt so the buyer could SEE i DID send it to him and i'm not screwing him around... So i call them up last week and ask whats going on, guy says "we screwed up and sent it too Erie, Penn to bulk sort plant- our bad... it should be there monday". Well today is Wed. and it's still not there, got an email from buyer asking whats up... i call USPS again and they say "it's somewhere between Erie, Penn and wherever it's going"... great i think, what do i do now, could take another month to file a claim with them... So now, what should i do? If i refund the buyer and USPS delivers, then i *could* be out the mold and cash (seller and i do NOT know each other, tho he is a TU member)... and his point of view could be that i'd take the money and run and he'd be out the cash for the mold, so he's not protected either... I'd send the money to someone here who's known and can be trusted just so we both KNOW there's nothing worry about, but i don't wanna stick anyone in the middle of this either... i have dealt with a few mebers here, buying/selling aswell... Man i hate USPS sometimes... and i'm Canadian lol any ideas on what to do?
One Sock
technically, you have a tracking number and insurance, so if it goes to paypal, they could request you give the insurance claim to the person buying....do not refund the money, you could wind up out of a mold and cash. Just explain what you have to the seller and explain that if usps can not come up with anything in 30 days, that you will file the claim, at that point it would be safe to say the package will not arrive and can refund the money.... bad part is you will probably get bad feedback either way, despite the fact it's not your fault
millsryno
I'd try to get in telephone contact with the guy and ask him what he wants to do about it. Just listen to him, maybe he will be cool about. Sh*t happens. He can file a PayPal claim on you, but that can take like 30 days or so and if the mold shows up between now and then, he won't get the claim. I would at least offer to refund his shipping money. IMO, it is the sellers responsibility to make sure it gets there...other may have different thoughts. You could file a claim to get the shipping money back from USPS. dampeoples
You don't have a tracking number, you have a delivery confirmation number, you also have insurance, so your best bet would be to contact the USPS again about filing a claim on that. In the meantime, talk it over with your buyer, come to an agreement on how long you two are willing to wait before you refund the money, and go from there. You're the one who will have to deal with the insurance claim, and receive the compensation, I'd say that once you start that process, it's time to refund his money. bassman843
I would wait for the package to get there give it another week and if not go to the post office to claim the insurance maybe that might get their a** in gear to get the package delivered.one time I sent a package to a guy on another board and he didn't get it for over a month
wannabefishing
thanks guys.... i'm hoping he'll just let it play out, meaning that USPS will either deliver it or i'll claim it, think i have 21 days which would make it the 30th... i'm sure he knows i'm not gonna screw him around, i spent extra on shipping so we were protected and my long distance bill will be a fun one (USPS loves the hold feature)... And yep, it's delivery confirmation... in canada delivery confirmation and tracking are the same thing... it's out of my hands on what feedback he'll leave, and at this point it doesn't matter, i just want the guy to get his package or his refund... we made a deal and it's more important that it's followed through on than anything really... i guess USPS will get another *pleasant* phone call this weekend... hopefully i get someone who knows something about something this time!!
