We used to have swaps two or three times per year. Here's the rules we used:

1. Set a deadline for participants wanting to take part to be signed up (you really need to limit the amount of people involved)

2. Set a dollar amount that each packet of baits will be worth (say five dollars per pack, 10 grubs do not cost the same as 10 stick baits)

3. Set deadline that participants must have their package mailed by

4. Determine shipping cost and mail with package

5 The participant hosting the swap will then repackage everyone's baits and ship

6. The participant hosting the swap pays no shipping (we always threw in extra stuff for the guy hosting the swap for all the extra work)

Hope this helps

I'm in, the only thing is should all bags be labeled from who they came from so that when everybody gets their baits, they will know who made them, also what would be neat is if we decide on 10 10 packs of baits, maybe pick the same 10 colors so everyone can compare different colors? Just some ideas, let me know i'm in either way

We normally just swapped soft plastics. There's a lot more time and expense in crankbaits. Some of those guys work weeks just building one bait.

We always labeled our bags and sent business cards. Who knows, you may want to purchase a few from the guy you swapped with. I wouldn't go with the same colors, it's nice to see some of the creations that other guys come up with.

Sorry if I'm intruding, really don't have a horse in this race, just brings back memories of past swaps.

I have a feeling you and I are thinking on the same lines. I wouldn't want to swap if everyone sent out sticks, frogs and trick worms. Hell, I can go do that myself. What I would like to see is unique stuff, the likes of Al's work, the friendly competition type stuff that Jim and Nil do, the stuff One Sock posts in the gallery, etc. (I can't type everyone, but everyone is included).

That being said, I can't pour straight down the hole most of the time, but I do have a mold or two most don't have. I would want everyone that got my stuff to say wow, that's a nice pour/mold/try!/something.

I have a wall full of leftover stuff and would be happy to drop in a few packs in a variety of colors. I can't promise a fixed amount, but I can add a fair share.

Let me know what you guys think of these rules:

1) Soft plastics only.

2) Deadline for the list of participants will be September 28th (that's the last Friday this month).

3) Let's keep it at 5 packs of 10 baits. I know some of you guys are VERY busy and 10 packs of 10 might be a challenge right now. Maybe have one pack of a high dollar bait (senkos or your personal big dollar bait) and the other 4 would be your choice.

4) Packages should be mailed to me no later than October 12th (that's 2 weeks after the participant list deadline).

On the shipping thing.......

as I said before, you guys ship the stuff to me and I will gladly pay the outgoing shipping price. If you like, set aside a small bag of baits for me and label it "Al" or "Al's Worms". Not many.....just a couple baits......and only if you have the time or it's feasible for you.

I will keep an ongoing list of participants and shipments and update regularly here.

What do you guys think of that? I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

Maybe you could post an ongoing list of participants?

I'm working on a new design just now for a jerkbait. I'm going to try to get the molds done for the swap; but if I can't I'm sure I can find something that no one else pours; lol.

Count me in.

Chris did you ever get the 2nd package I sent out to you for our trade?

There was a second package?? I didn't know about that Nil.

I have to back out too. I also have had some personal issues come up that require my immediate attention. If it is too late to back out, I will try to get some pouring in if I can. I hate to back out, but I don't really have much choice at this time. Hopefully I can get into the next go around for sure. Sorry again.
