bassbug
Looking for recommendations on plastic strength. I am using MF regular strength plastic and the nose of the frogs seems to tear out to easy . The MF plastic is great, not complaining about the plastic. I have not tried harder plastic. I would have to order some. I have tried softer and it does not seem to help. I am pouring the Dell frog. I really like the action of the regular strength plastic and the ease of setting the hook. If I add hardener or mix the regular strength with a harder plastic do you have heat the plastic more to pour it? Thanks for any help and the sharing of your experience. Richard Prager
What kind of hook are you using? I find that the pictured hook to be the best for frogs. I don't have Del's frog but MF regular should work just fine. I have used "regular" for a long time but have recently added hardener for a couple of reasons. One being you will get more "kick" from the feet and you can package them quicker and will not flatten out in the bags so quickly. Adding hardener does thicken the plastic and you do need to heat it up more to thin it out for pouring. It also cools faster so you have to re-heat a little more often. I don't know how well this will work with your mold but it works well for me. If you are not using this type of hook, then this might just solve your problem. VANNDALIZER
I use tube plastic for mine. Seems to work good so far. Good Luck, MAV
