Joe
Thanks for the compliments. I tried to keep the site clean and simple not only for people visiting the site, but for me as well. I'm not too good with these computers and I need something fool proof. As it is, I'm having trouble setting up my avator but thats a problem for another day. MarshManiC, sounds good to me. Thanks again, Joe

Gr8flyz
Joe, I have to agree with the rest, the site looks great! Keeping it clean & simple also helps it load faster on slower dial-up connections. No sense having a site that won't load on the screen, especially since most surfers won't take the time to wait. I learned that the hard way! I also like those sweeeeeeeeet topwater poppers! Beautiful, just beautiful!
deadlystreamer
Hi Joe, Excellent web site. You have every thing covered and easy to get around. You should do well with it. I like your small print message at the bottom, "better in the water then in the mail" Very well put. Good luck with it. George

Joe
Hi Guys, Thanks for all the kind words about my new site. I have been working on it for several months and was hoping it would come out ok.A friend of my son is starting a side business doing web sites and she was a great help in getting it set up. I would now like to get on the major search engins, so that people can find me. Can anyone give me some direction as where to begin? Thanks again, Joe
DeVeryTY
Hi Joe, Whatever you do don't pay anyone to list your website, you can do it yourself. The top two search engine's are Google and Yahoo. Start at: http://docs.yahoo.com/info/suggest/ for Yahoo and http://www.google.com/addurl.html fo Google each of these pages will explain the procedure and why they list or don't list your site. Submit to both and I'm pretty sure if you get on either or both you'll make all the other engine's lists. DeVery
Gr8flyz
Joe, at one time is was easy to get listed on the major search engines and was free, you just filled out a form & submitted it. Now most are charging to be listed. If you can afford it that's fine. Some of them update and add new info as web pages are added to the Internet, so you get listed in some anyway. Some of them give special treatment to companies who pay more for their listings, so you'll never be listed higher than those companies, unless you pay the price. My experience with my website, is that getting reciprocal links to other fishing, or even hunting oriented sites has generated more business for me than the search engines. Also get active on fishing sites that have message boards, but don't post ads, that usually just pisses people off, especially if there are paying sponsors. Get involved in discussions & contribute information. Like is done on this site. As folks get to know you & develop trust in what you have to offer, they'll start buying from you, but it takes time. Also consider sponsoring a site that gets a lot of traffic from anglers. I sponsored www.riversmallies.com for a year & got a lot of business from it. That type of site has members who are interested in my type of lures & flies, and I enjoy the discussions, so sponsoring helps keep the site going. Another way to get more exposure is get listed in the site ranking boards, sites with those little icons that show your sites position in the rankings. Most are free to join & are usually topic specific, like "Top 100 Fishing Sites" so folks look there for fishing info. In my opinion you're better off getting listed & links on websites that are specific to the kind of fishing you make lures for, otherwise, as far as search engines go, you're more likely to get lost in thousands of other sites that may already be listed. Joe
Thanks DeVery and Jim, I have been contacting other sites that share similar interest. I have several link swaps in the works and I hope to do more as time permits. I am new to the computer world and I am learning as I go. Realistically, I figured it will take six months to a year for people to learn about and get familiar with my site, I don't know if that is an accurate time table or not, but I see people go into different ventures and if they don't see immediate results they become discouraged and quit. I hope to be in this for the long haul and don"t expect everything to happen over night, but I will do everything I can to help it along. Being able to get help and information from all the folks on this site has been a great help. Thanks, Joe
